Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween week. Hayden had DARE all week at school and on Thursday they got to dress up as their favorite book character and had a parade throughout their school. Cutest. Thing. Ever. I love his school and all the fun stuff they do there. I forgot my camera but my friend took pictures and will be emailing me those pictures sometime. He then had a Halloween party that same day...me and two other moms were in charge of it and I have to say.....for first timers it was a pretty fun party!

Hayden's good friend Alec. Another parent decided cupcakes with icing that looked like pure dye was a good idea...Ha! Hayden had a few bites of the icing and was done. Totally don't blame him!

My sweet Spider Man. We had trouble with a book character costume for this one. He mostly only reads non fiction books. Luckily, we did have this dress up Spider Man costume and Alec has about 10 Spider Man masks and let us borrow one....so it all worked out.  :)

On Tuesday our Library had a thing where all the kids came dressed up. They had a craft, snack and played Hotel Transylvania. (Have I mentioned how much we adore our library?) We don't like to pay for a lot of things...especially with a family of 4 most things would cost us at least $40 and we are CHEAP! Lol. So, as much as our library does (and is free) we are so very grateful and take full advantage of letting our kids do fun things and not spend money. Win. Win. :)
Olivia was Cruella Deville this year. She at least got to wear this outfit to the Library dress up and was the most favorite costume there. Score! BUT, when we got home from the library the kids were playing outside (who cares if it is cold and rainy...they don't!) and she was riding around on her plasma car and the bottom half of the tutu got all caught up in the wheel. Let's just say, that costume was done. I don't have a picture of Hayden in a costume because he didn't get to wear one. He had Odyssey of the Mind practice and got out at 430, the library thing started at 4, so we just went straight there because Alec and his family were waiting on us.
This is his costume. Captain Iron Spider Man. Who says you can't be three awesome heroes! We were on our way to my friend's Halloween party and to go Trick or Treating. We got all the way to Bentonville, looked in the backseat and Hayden was fast asleep. Poor kiddo. We did not trick or treat and I have to say the next morning...no tears, nothing. They could have cared less.
Olivia loves this picture...she says she looks like a "Jombie".
This was Hayden's costume. We worked really hard on it and he was so excited to be Minecraft Steve. But after we did all that work (Andrew cut out the sword and I taped the paint swatches to it and Andrew did the whole Steve head) we could not figure out how to get it to stay on his head. We were unaware that the price of foam is absolutely ridiculous. So, he went as Captain Iron Spider Man and couldn't have been happier. :)
We made some fun Halloween cookies.
This thing is the best invention there ever was. Every weekend we do a family movie night. Kids love it and really look forward to it. They pick out their movie (from their own collection, usually) set up on the floor and we make popcorn. Microwave popcorn is SO expensive....I found this awesome gadget, practically brand new at a garage sale for $1!!! It is called the Whirley Pop in case you might want some awesome stovetop popcorn. :)
It is unusual that I do a post...well, at all...but especially on a Saturday. But after church, photo shoot and hopefully getting our yard in order I will not have time for a blog post. And I am trying to keep pace. :)
